The Office of the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment ('the Office') is an independent voice for sustainability and environmental issues. We would like your views so we can ensure that the Office gives priority to the issues that are important to the ACT community.

Therefore, please tell us:

  • What you like best about living in the ACT and the surrounding Region?
  • What you think are five big sustainability issues facing us?
  • How urgent is it to take action with respect to your top issues? Why?
  • What action should be taken by:
    (a) Government?
    (b) Businesses?
    (c) You?
  • Do you think it is important to have an independent Office that can investigate and comment on sustainability and environmental issues in the ACT (and surrounding region)? Please tell us why.
  • Is there anything else that you would like to tell us?

Please give us your name and address for future correspondence. If you would prefer to remain anonymous please give us your postcode.

The information you give us will be used to help develop a paper for the Government to consider with respect to the refinement of the extended role of the Office of the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment.

A Consultation Paper with additional information to assist in providing responses is available.

A Reference Group has been established to assist in providing information.

The Office has recently completed the State of the Environment Report 2007/08, which provides valuable information about our community.  You may wish to refer to it in giving us your ideas on sustainability.

Submissions should be lodged by Monday 17 November 2008 and addressed to the Office of the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment either by post, email or fax:
