Bombala Council Area
With one border along the top of the coastal escarpment in southern NSW, and another reaching into the Snowy Mountains, Bombala Council Area experiences a unique mix of coastal and highland influences on its native and human ecosystems. The council area occupies an area of about 394,420 hectares on the rich Monaro Plains of the south-eastern NSW tablelands, much of which has been modified for agriculture and timber production. Only one-third of the council area has retained its native vegetation, with much of that managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (21% of the council area). As of June 2004, some 2545 people lived in Bombala Council Area. Read more > |
